Aligned Showcases Wallet-as-a-Service Demo

Aligned released its first public demo of its wallet-as-a-service product, designed to help partners onboard millions of users seamlessly. The demo features Google sign-in, wallet creation via Touch ID passkeys synced through iCloud, USDT transfers signed with a fingerprint, and instant access from a new device.

Built on a 2-of-2 multisig (user passkey + server), ERC-4337 account abstraction, and WebAuthn authentication, the wallet also includes server-guardian recovery with timelock and MFA. Censorship-resistant key retrieval is currently in development.

Vitalik Buterin Outlines Ethereum’s Quantum Resistance Roadmap

A proposed quantum-resistance roadmap identifies four vulnerable components in Ethereum: BLS consensus signatures, KZG-based data availability, EOA signatures (ECDSA), and application-layer ZK proofs. The plan includes replacing BLS with hash-based signatures under Lean consensus, exploring STARK-based alternatives to KZG, enabling native account abstraction for quantum-safe signatures, and using recursive STARK aggregation to reduce the high gas costs of post-quantum proofs and signature verification.

EF Protocol Publishes “Strawmap” L1 Roadmap

The EF Protocol team introduced Strawmap, a strawman roadmap outlining a holistic, long-term vision for Ethereum L1 upgrades through 2029. It highlights five “north stars”: fast L1, gigagas L1, teragas L2, post-quantum L1, and private L1, and organizes future forks across consensus, data, and execution layers. Presented as a living coordination tool rather than an official roadmap, the strawmap aims to align research and development across the ecosystem.

Coinbase Institute Publishes Framework on Onchain Settlement Finality

Coinbase Institute released a policy paper outlining a framework for recognizing settlement finality on public blockchains. The report argues that atomic settlement, economically enforced technical finality, and 24/7 availability reduce principal, liquidity, and counterparty risk compared to traditional systems. It calls on policymakers to define clear legal thresholds that map technical finality to legal finality, aligning blockchain settlement with existing regulatory frameworks.

Ethereum Foundation Reaffirms Commitment to DeFi

The Ethereum Foundation outlined its renewed focus on supporting decentralized finance as a core pillar of Ethereum’s growth. Emphasizing permissionless, censorship-resistant, privacy-first, and open-source principles, the EF highlighted priorities including builder support, security, decentralization, and clearer standards. This aims to strengthen Ethereum as the global financial settlement layer while advancing both mature DeFi use cases and next-generation financial primitives.

L2BEAT Launches Interop Dashboard to Track Cross-Chain Flows

L2BEAT introduced L2BEAT Interop, a new dashboard designed to track how value moves between chains. The tool allows users to select chain pairs and analyze transfer sizes, speeds, token breakdowns, and the protocols facilitating transfers. It also categorizes interoperability solutions into non-minting, lock & mint, and burn & mint models, aiming to provide clearer insight into cross-chain activity and associated risks.
